Description: Almost 90% of the marine debris found on Sydney’s beaches is plastic – impacting wildlife, human health and the marine environment. In this presentation a representative from AUSMAP, The Australian Microplastic Assessment Project will explain how they are sampling, analysing and documenting the levels of microplastics and other pollutants on beaches and waterways around Sydney and across Australia.

Learn what needs to happen to ensure a healthier marine environment for the future, inspiring communities to reduce plastic waste, informing governments of priority actions and changing business practices. Join us on Watsons Bay beach after the presentation to help us collect samples of microplastics and other plastic pollution along the beach.
