Description: Bare Island was part of the traditional land of the Gweagal and Kameygal Aboriginal groups and referred to by Captain Cook as a “small bare island”. Since those early times, the island has experienced a variety of uses and recognitions, from being a late nineteenth century coastal defense site, a veterans home, and site location for the film Mission Impossible 2.
