SCCG & SSSI GIS Forum:
Sydney’s Integrated Spatial Future
“Bringing together key industry experts with Local Government management and practitioners to advance GIS use and its capabilities for the Sydney region”
It has been clearly recognised that a ‘wall of mystery’, can exist between
information required, formats, data sets and databases when communicating graphical and spatial data across departments and organisations.
The SCCG and SSSI’s objective for the event aimed at creating dialogue and understanding to demystifying this ‘wall’ and assist the advancement of this valuable information source.
The SCCG and SSSI are very grateful for the involvement of so many people and staff for making this such a successful event in the organising, promoting, presenting and attending.
The SCCG and SSSI would also like to thank the financial support from the principal sponsor of the event, the Lands and Property Management Authority (LPMA) and the Common Spatial Information Initiative (CS2i). Sponsorship was also provided by GISjobs and Geoimage. Without such financial contributions the SCCG and SSSI would not have been able to conduct such a well subscribed and quality event.
The evaluation forms from the forum showed that collectively the 85 participants believed the event was a very worthy experience to be in attendance of. On two occasions presenters commented during their presentations that the GIS forum presented by the SCCG and the Surveyors and Spatial Sciences Institute (SSSI) was contributing positively to demystifying the ‘Wall of Mystery’.
