Building for Sustainability Forum

The SCCG are pleased to report the ‘SCCG Building for Sustainability Forum’ held on Thursday 14 July, 2011 was a great success. The aim of the Forum is to give a critical perspective on how the built environment can become more sustainable, adapt to climate change and to identify challenges and possible research links with SCCG Member Councils.

This exciting Forum facilitated by the SCCG in partnership with the Faculty of Built Environment, University of New South Wales, and supported by ACCARNSI (NCCARF Settlements & infrastructure) incorporated the following themes:

  • What is happening at an international scale;
  • Building metrics and reporting;
  • Scale issues from metropolitan planning, master plans, to single building application and retrofitting; and
  • Local Government case studies.

The afternoon workshops facilitated by UNSW and panel discussions will define and assess challenges and research needs for practitioners, regulators and managers.
